"My prints are abstract woodblock prints that create and compose forms in my own way, drawing inspiration from the shapes of natural objects. I have worked on various themes so far, including local flowers, breathing forms, wandering forms, sound, and the mental images of the moment. Since 1972, I have consistently produced sosaku hanga prints, creative woodblocks cut and printed by the artist. It is the process of drawing, carving, and printing by applying water-based inks to the blocks with special brushes, all done by the artist. The printing is done with a baren, rubbing on the back of the print with a round disk, and that has not changed from the beginning. I continue to create while enjoying the rich texture of woodblock prints printed with ink and transparent watercolor paints on handmade Japanese paper or washi."
